Does your 1 year old have a drink of milk first thing in the morning?

I breastfeed dd (15 months) when we get up but at the moment we're worried about how much she's eating during the day (like nothing except breakfast!) So I just wondered if others give a milk drink before breakfast.

I'm going to do a food diary for a week because I expect she's having more than we think! But just thought I'd do a quick MN straw poll.

Thanks.

ds1 always did.

Ds1 14 months has a b/f 1st thing and then breakfast

funnypeculiar · 03/02/2008 21:51

Yes, both did.
Indeed (now 2 & 4) still do

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 03/02/2008 21:52

yes, milk, then breakfast.

Habbibu · 03/02/2008 21:53

Yes, dd 15 months positively demands it - it's a cup in the morning these days. Oddly enough, the morning bf was the first one she dropped, but she's very keen on her morning warm milk now.

Yes, DS has milk then brekkie about an hour later. No way would he be patient enough for me to make toast before clamouring for boob.

When i was breastfeeding she did, i got a bit of a lie in but when is stopped breastfeeding (about 15 months) i started to just give her breakfast though she did always get to drink the milk when her cereal from her bowl had finished, which was a big hit.

lol, My DS1 is 10, DD1 is 7 and DD2 is 6 and still have milk in the morning.

SparklyGothKat · 03/02/2008 21:56

not breastmilk though lol, thats Callum's.

Jojay · 03/02/2008 21:57

Yes. he doesn't always want much though, he's getting more and more interested in breakfast instead!

pinkspottywellies · 03/02/2008 21:57

Thanks everyone. So I guess I'm not overloading her!

ds snacks through the night then has a big feed first thing. he's never very interested in breakfast, so we have elevenses together!

My daughter is nearly 17 months and has a cup of milk as soon as she wakes up. It puts off the time when I have to actually get out of bed and start moving, which can only be a good thing!

ibblewob · 08/02/2008 20:56

Same - DS (2.3) has a cup of milk in the mornings, very useful when he wakes up at 5.30am and I'm not normally feeling up to brekkie until 8! ugh.
