fuck, dd 7 months has just nipped me, for the 1st time

ouch, i just sort of went owwww quite loudly and dd startd crying bless her
so i put her on the other breast and she didnt do it again ....well not yet

DD is a lot older and no longer nips/bites thank god!!

should be fine, ds did it a couple of times (very minor) and I yelled and nearly put him off altogether one time! so don't scream if you can help it (I know this is hard when a small sharp object has been inserted into your nipple very suddenly )

he didn't continue biting and we breastfed for AGES

just say OW or 'no' or whatever and remove from breast (you can use finger to break suction or even pull her in very close, so her nose is up against your breast and she has to release to breathe)

thanks ill try and do that next time, kinda took me by suprise as shes had teeth since newyear eve and hasnt bitten me yet, so i just thought she wouldnt

obviously you want her to stop biting, plus it really makes you want to SCREAM! but I have heard LOTS of stories of women yelling out, frightening the baby, and the baby refusing to breastfeed again, so try to keep it contained if you possibly can

if you keep taking her off for a minute she should soon get the message
plus people whose babies do bite regularly, sometimes find they can predict when it is going to happen (eg end of a feed with the baby just kind of messing about) and may be able to keep on guard and whip the baby off before too much harm done
