If I want to be an extended bfer am I resigned to wearing shapeless bras and my norks around my ankles until I stop?

Help! I have a few, ill fitting, nursing bras, my most comfy being my bravado one. But they make my books hang around my waist, they are that huge as I am small framed, probably about a 34/36 DD but I am loathe to spend lots of money on bras, and I am not sure how long I am going to bf for (dd is 7mo). What should I do? Bite the bullet and invest in a couple of decent bras or wait until I stop? How much are they likely to shrink, now I am well into this bfing lark?

How about buying one that fits really well, and just washing it overnight to wear again in the morning? I am pg and currently doing this, as I know I will get bigger, and don't want to be spending fortune on bras every couple of months.

Personally when ds was over a year I went back to ordinary bras with underwire in - it made a big difference to how I felt, and didn't interfere with feeding, for me. I know some people have trouble with blocked ducts if they go back to underwire too quickly, though, so use your judgement.

If you don't mind spending money on ONE good bra in the meantime, I found the Elle Mac Pherson Maternelle was comfortable, flattering and nice looking.

I'm with FrannyandZooey - when we had dropped to 2 feeds a day (about 12 months), my breasts stayed pretty much the same size all the time and I went back to my normal bras. Well, not actually my normal bras, had to buy some more as I am now a cup size smaller than I was in answer to your shrinking question...

I bf number 3 for 3 and a half years. Used a feeding bra from M&S I think that was black but supportive. Only had 2 of them. Wash one n wear one. But they were a C as my norks never did get big (practically vanished now)
I think after 2 years they were a B but still producing milk.

When DS dropped daytime feeds I went back to normal bras - only have two as I wanted to buy really well fitted ones, and make myself go back to be refitted regularly.
My best feeding bra was the Anita soft underwire (but it broke after 6 weeks), and an M&S t shirt one, that managed to be comfy and supportive.

I switched back to normal underwired bras once DD was over 12 months or so and feeding only 3 times a day. No problems whatsoever and I have a fantastic cleavage

I was back in underwireds when DS stopped feeding (mostly) during the day - about 10mo? Wish I'd done it sooner. Feeding bras are awful.
