hello

my 1 years old currently has bm in morning, night and when he wakes in the middle of the night.

firstly i need to cut our feeds in the middle of the night - need advice on how to do this - best way (he has eczema and gets quite stressed out with this and scratches his scalp ears face etc) i have been bf him just to get him back to sleep but need to stop this. advice please.

Once cracked this would you drop morning then before bed feeds? For bedtime what would you use to give them milk? He always seems to swallow and spit out some out of his tommy tippee cup.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ;)

What I did (therefore not necy right!)

  • dropped morning feed first, as he was more hungry/thirsty, and less of a comfort feed and would happily gulp from tommee tippee first thing in the morning
  • once we'd done that I cut the night feed - reduced time gradually, then once it was just 5 mins replaced it with cuddle & water in tommee tippee, then cut the water
  • I dropped the bedtime feed last of all. DS also started spitting his milk when it was in a cup so I stopped giving it to him. He eats really well, doesn't like drinking milk... So I give him more yoghurts, cheese etc. to make it up.

Best of luck...

You could try this

It presumes that you are co-sleeping but could still work.

I am trying in on 17 month old DD, in a slightly slower way than the article, and it seems to be working.

Not sure about the middle of the night feeds, but with ds we dropped the bedtime feed before the morning one (purely because I wanted to go out over Christmas ). I thought it would be horrendous but he had milk from a cup (hardly drank any to start with but has a whole cup now), a small biscuit and a story with Daddy and went to sleep without a murmur. I was very depressed! After a week we cut out the biscuit, all went fine. Still doing morning feed but I don't think he would be that bothered if I didn't offer. Good luck!

By the way, DS's homeopath recommended this stuff and it completely got rid of his eczema without steroids. Then I tried it on my eczema which I've had since childhood - and it's gone! Maybe worth a try if your poor little one is suffering at night. I sympathise...
