BF 11mo hardly drinks any water, is this OK?

He generally has three BFs a day -- morning, mid-afternoon and bedtime. I offer water with all meals/snacks and sometimes he has a few sips (straight from cup, he refuses to drink from a spout), but some days he refuses it all day. Is it safe to assume he is getting enough liquid from 3 BFs? (I can;t offer cows' milk as well as he is allergic.) Or should I offer the breast more often?

No answers, but my DD2 is the same - nearly 10 months, bf an & eve, with ff mid-afternoon and almost no water in between. I figure there's still quite a lot of liquid in her food as I still do quite a lot of roughly chopped purees with extra milk etc.

Well if he isn't constipated and he isn't demanding more BM then I can't see the problem. My BF 14 month DD has hardly ever drunk water but once she was ill with a D&V bug she guzzled water down so if she needed it she would demand it.

How do you get to 3 BFs a day is my question - I'm about to start weaning my baby and struggling to get the number of feeds down...

Until the last couple of days he was having 4 BFs a day -- first thing, one after the morning and afternoon naps and again at bedtime. He has just started refusing the morning nap so I have brought lunch forward to 11.30 (he would previously have BF at 10.30), then he naps 12.30-2ish, has a BF, then a snack around 3.30 and tea around 5.30.

TBH he has never been a big 'demander' of daytime BFs (too distracted by life) so didn't seem to miss the morning feed at all, I would have fed him if he'd seemed to need it.

As for constipated -- he did 6 poos yesterday so no problems in that department!

Also meant to say, do you have a Doidy cup? It's the only thing DD2 will really drink any water from.
