What's best teat? Are baby bottles toxic?

I'm having problems with my baby taking expressed milk from a bottle. Can anyone recommend the best teats/bottles for tricking baby that it's breast?

Also I read this www.babyworld.co.uk/information/baby/bottle_feeding/are_bottles_toxic.asp and was wondering what other makes do not use the chemical in question. Do you think it's really worth worring about this?

Advice gratefully received.

first thing that strikes me about that article is that

"A recent study found that 95 per cent of adults tested had BPA present in their urine."

so basically the chances of you having it - and it passing through to the baby are pretty high (and normal)...anyhow - first I've heard of it anyhow!

I use glass bottles, just in case - plus better for the environment because they can be recycles at the end of their life. Ok for a little one, may not be practicle once he can throw things!

I breast fed exclusively, but did try to introduce bottles when I was really poorly when DD was about 12 weeks old. She refused.
I continued to try with them using expressed milk and she only toko one when she was about 8-9 months old. I had tried every possible bottle and teat on the market I think!

Eventually, she took a bottle made by Maam with their teats. I think she took it as it is quite a flat teat, which she could kind of squash like she does my nipple/breast. IYSWIM?

will try and find a link to one for you.

As for being toxic, first i'd heard of it tbh...

here is the page

also comes in pink or purple

here is the teat

they come in slow, medium and fast flow. the bottles you buy in the packs come with a slow teat I think... or might be medium, although, i had to buy the fast flow teats.

worth a try.. worked for me. She now takes them three times a day. incidentally, she will laso now take a tommy tippee closer to nature bottle, well, actually she'll take anything, if she feels like it. Still prefers breast though, given the choice.

Mainly DH and my mum give them to her now. I feed her at night and first thing from Br, but at least i know she will take them now!

By the way, she is 1 year old now, and only really took them about a month or so ago.

Hi Woby, I had trouble with my bf DD, she took bottles of expressed milk from 3 weeks to 12 weeks, then decided to refuse the bottle!! I got her back on the bottle by using the same bottles and teats which susiecutiemincepies recommends, which a bf friend had recommended to me - good luck!!!

Most babies go through a stage of refusing the bottle. IMO it does not make any difference what teat you use-soemtimes they will just take it or not take it.

However I appreciate changing teat/bottle works for some.

Didn't work for me, spent/wasted a fortune.
