Breastfeeding toddler while pregnant

I just found out I'm pregnant, while still BFing DD who is 20 months old (just feeds before naps and bedtime, and once in the morning when we wake up).

Just looking for other women's experience of doing this

Did your older child carry on BFing all the way through your next pregnancy? I would ideally like to tandem feed so DD bonds with her sibling and doesn't get too jealous of him/her.

Slightly older but my DD was just over 2 when I got pregnant. She was just feeding first thing in the morning and last thing at night. She stopped pretty quickly after I got pregnant, I've read the taste can change so maybe it was that. Whatever the reason, she stopped all by herself and was fine.
Towards the end of my pregnancy she did ask if she could feed again, but was quite happy to be told no. DD2 was born last week and DD1 hasn't shown any jealousy around it - and I was worried given that she was recently asking to feed.

Like PP I was open to this but my toddler had other ideas. She stopped herself when I was about 4/5 months pregnant. Now baby is here she is quite fascinated by feeding and often asks for milk in a cup whilst baby breastfeeds but has no interest in tandem feeding.

I fed DS1 until he was nearly 2 - about 4 months before DS2 was born. He stopped quite happily - I think he wasn't getting an awful lot any more.

When I fed DS2, he would occasional ask for some. I said that it was for the baby. He was fine with it - I still have memories of him coming at me with mouth open though made me chuckle...

Currently pregnant again - about 20 weeks. Similar age gap. DS2 still has a little feed - last thing at night, first thing in the morning. Seems to be tailing off a bit. I fear he might be a bit more miffed when the baby comes...

Interesting - thanks all.

I've read that some nurslings naturally wean around 5 months into the current pregnancy, as that's when the breasts start to produce colostrum for the new baby.

I hadn't considered that DD might not want to tandem feed! I always figured she would be keen, but clearly that's not always the case.

I continued to feed my first son all through my second pregnancy then tandem nursed for about 4 months. The oldest one just started losing interest and gave up himself, mainly I think because I started sleeping in a different room with the baby so he was no longer co sleeping with me.

For the few months I was feeding them both it was a really nice bonding experience for them. The oldest one is smitten with his little brother - no idea if feeding them together made any difference!

That's interesting. it was about that point in my pregnancy that DS self weaned, he was just over 3. He told me he didn't like the colostrum and just sort of stopped being able to latch really quickly.
