Ameda Lacatline of Medela Swing???

I am about to buy a breast pump (I used to have the Medela Mini)and like the idea of being able to double pump (Ameda) but quietly (Medela?).I have purchased an Easy Expression bra to go hands free!

Does anyone have any first hand experience of "double pumping" - do you get more milk in less time? With the old medela I had to keep switching breasts so wonder if I will 'run out' trying to double pump.

Has anyone ever been able to try both models? (Am I clutching at straws?! ) Any advice welcome please.

Double pumping is definitely better for production, IME. Haven't used either of those pumps but most MNer's who use the lactaline swear by them.

I haven't tried the Medela, but have used the Lactaline lots and lots - its not particularly loud, and you can always chuck a cushion on it to reduce it to a level where you can be on the phone and the other end can't hear it.
Double pumping is very effective, and quick as you only have to get one let down for both breasts iyswim.

I haven't tried the Medela but I adored the Ameda Lactaline - I wasn't able to breastfeed dd1 so expressed exclusively for her for 6 months using the lactaline, it's a real work horse! really quiet, great for double pumping and has since been used by two friends and is still going strong.

Double pumping is the way forward - I instantly increased my supply and in quicker time too. It also encouraged the left boob which was always a lot less milky than the right - I went from single pumping: left -2oz, right - 6oz to double pumping: left 4oz, right 12oz. Very strange. I also had the expressions bra which was a real sight but worked for me! I came across it at the bottom of my underwear drawer last week and it looked comical now but at the time was a godsend.

Finally, my favourite bit of the lactaline is that you can pay a bit extra for a kit that plugs into a cigarette lighter in the car so you can have the pleasure of expressing whilst driving down the motorway! (as a passenger of course.. was on the way to a wedding reception and had to fit it in when I could!)
