firstly sorry to bore you i am always asking about breastfeeding. I have very inflamed left breast on antibi co something anyway i am feeding from the breast as if anything it is a relief, but my dd is 1 and my gp was horrified that i was still breastfeeding............ i have tried for several months to stop but dd gets ill ans now she is teething so i use it as a soother, but i do want her to come off, she still takes only 10mls of water a day from a beaker reluctantley no milk or juice unless in food or breast please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel even my sisters are moaning at me dh is fine says whatever makes dd happy. (might keep him)

Oh slink, i couldn't imagine feeding a 1 year old whilst having mastitis.. poor you. I have had it 6 times but my both dd's were younger than 3 months. You must have to tie her up to ensure she isn't griping/pinching or banging your breast

Regarding carrying on bfing, if you, your dd and dh are all happy with it why does it matter what other people think? The WHO recommends bfing until 2yo and beyond.

Not sure if I have misread but did you say you do want her to stop? If you don't then don't!, There is absolutely nothing wrong with BFing at 1, nothing at all. They, and you still gain from it.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to stop, I stopped at 9 months with DS as I went back to work and he was also biting, but as I wasn't there to feed him he had no chocie but to take something else so would take EBM from a cup.

WRT Mastitis, I had it when DS was about 6 months, it was horrid, but I also found the best way to ease it was to keep feeding, so maybe if you do want to stop you should wait until you're better?

As for other people moaning at you, why on earth does it bother them how you feed DD, if you bottle or breast feed to ensure your LO still gets milk is none of their business, so I'd tell them you appreciate their input but would prefer support to suggestions.
