my 6mo has dropped 10 oz from her milk intake and I'm at my wit's end

She is having some small amounts of solids and I could maybe understand her fropping 3 or 4 ozs but this is ridiculous. Been going on for nearly a week now and as it's no better today (in fact she's only taken 10 oz since 8am) I really wish I'd phoned the HVs yesterday.

She was a bit ill last week and is coughing up some phlegm about once a day - could this be the problem?

She tucking into all sorts of other food with enthusiasm, just turning her nose up at her bottles.

Anybody had a similair experience? I'm wondering whether I should go straight to the doctors on Monday although it seems a bit drastic as she is generally full of beans (not literally )

as long as she still getting some and is having wwater/juice as the milk might be making her fell worse if she got cough

is she well? well considering she has a cold? it might be that milk is a bit claggy for her at the moment if she is mucousy

is she weeing and pooing normally?

is she taking other liquids and other sources of calcium?

you can cook with milk and use cheese and yoghurt whilst her milk intake is low

talktothebees · 05/01/2008 14:11

of course, the minute I posted this she drained another 7oz bottle

she does seem happy enough in herself, still weeing and pooing normally, no signs of dehydration and she will happily spend 20 minutes gnawing down on a piece of cheese or any other food really

Perhaps I'll just wait to see how she is on Monday. I was just wondering whether I should be more worried than I am. Especially as Baby Bees never really makes a fuss about anything. I had visions of ending up at the HVs next week with them marking me down as a slack mother because I didn't contact them earlier. "You mean your baby hasn't eaten properly for a week and youre only telling us now?" that sort of thing

cheers for the advice. I feel much calmer now.

your baby is eating properly, for one that is under the weather.babies don;t always eat the same amount and drink the same amount, if she is well and happy, don;t panic!
