Breastfeeding support tread

Apologies if there is already a similar thread but I thought it would be helpful to start a general breastfeeding support/chat thread.

I had my DD 13 days ago and I'm struggling with breastfeeding this week. I think I've got a touch of baby blues as I was really enjoying it last week. I'm struggling with the constant cluster feeding and I'm even struggling to latch her as I just get stressed and try too hard. I'm also struggling after an episiotomy. It just feel like it's never going to end! She's my second baby but I didn't bf my first due to medical reasons, I expressed for 12 weeks.

Anyone else going through similar?

I'm a FTM and my DS is 11 weeks so feels like I recently went through the same. Cluster feeding is super hard initially but gets better, it's just a phase, I literally just accepted it and sat on the sofa/ bed feeding him and watching tv.

I have also had loads of issues with my DS latching so I had him checked for a tongue tie and had that corrected so it's slightly better now. Additionally I have a fast let down so he still sometimes clamps down and pulls away into a very shallow latch so we're still working through that.

He is putting on good weight though as long as yours is growing and putting on weight then you're doing well and it will get easier.

Might be worth contacting your local breastfeeding support team (I was on the phone to them loads for help, still do sometime).

Who would have breastfeeding could be so physically and mentally challenging huh, worth every second though so hang in there if you can!

How are you getting on now?

I really struggled at the start but now almost 6 months in and going well. Cluster feeding slows down, there are lots of growth spurts but things do settle. My lo still feeds often, every 1-1.5hrs but my nephew (a month older) has always lasted 3-4 hours, each baby is different.
