Extended BFers help - DD always want to feed in company

DD nearly 14 months BFs 3-5 times a day. Over Christmas whenever family are round or we go to other peoples houses she wants to BF - I know she is probably nervous and seeking comfort and closeness. I don't ignore her and try and comfort and cuddle her but only a BF will work as she repeatedly head butts my chest and points at my boobs. With close friends and family its not a problem. Got a big DH family do next weekend and I know she will find it stressful with lots of people and not much room to crawl around. I will retreat and feed her in another room, I do feed her in public but DH's family are so disapproving and it will allow me to escape the party too .

Do they grow out of this stage or will the boob will always be the first point of comfort through toddlerhood? I've never found distraction works thats why she is not just being fed morning and night. Any tips?

hi tapster, I am not an extended bf-er (yet) but I know a fair few people who are and tbh with you even when feeding their toddlers they just look like LO is lying on their lap for a cuddle/sleep. It is difficult not to assume that everyone knows what you're doing- but I am sure that most people wouldn't give you a second glance.

She will grow out of it eventually- after all you don't see many 10 yr olds nursing in public when she grows out of it who can say?
If you want to though do keep trying with the distraction technique- consistency a key thing with most other parts of parenting so may work here as well.
