I go back to work next week (my DS2 is 7 months) so we started trying to get him on a bottle and today he took 2 oz from DH which was a real breakthough. I did however want to carry on feeding in the morning and night but I just tried to feed him then and he got really upset and get biting me. In the end, I got the bottle out and he drank another 2 oz.

I know I should be pleased that he has taken the bottle, we have been trying off and on for months. I also feel really happy as he has been BF for much longer than DD and DS1 but I still want to have a big sob. He is usually up during the night so hopefully he will feed during the night. I know it will end at some point but wanted it to last a bit longer....

It may not be over yet - my dd (nearly 7 months )can get bitey now if I persist in offering the breast when she isn't hungry, but she will feed well otherwise.

From what I have heard, babies as young as ours don't self-wean, but they can go on nursing strikes. I think kellymom has info on this.

good luck

Thanks, just had a good cry which made me feel a bit better. I do wonder if he got confused about where his milk is coming from.

I think my upset is combined with not wanting to go back to work but knowing I have to.
