2 nights away from breastfed 6mo... any advice?

So I have a 2 night hen do coming up in less than a month for my best friend.
My ds will be 6 months old when I go. Its going to be the first time I've been way from him overnight (I've had an evening out).
I'm getting a little nervous as it's getting closer. He takes bottles of ebm well and I've built a big freezer stash ready for the weekend.
But I worry if he'll be OK being away from me for so long. I also worry about my supply. I have an elvie, so I plan to express at the same times my baby usually feeds, but I'm worried my supply may be affected, as its not as effective as ds.

Hi anyone got any advice, tips or personal experience of this??

You sound exactly like me just a couple of months ago, except my baby was 10 months. I borrowed an Elvie from a friend, as I had a Medela but it needs to be plugged in to use as the cordless setting is broken. The Elvie was a lifesaver. My supply wasn’t affected. This was my first time being away from her for more than a couple of hours so it was a big step.

At 6 months your supply will not be affected even if you don't manage to express the same amount your baby usually has for each feed. Mine is 10 months and has only 2 feeds a day usually, but he was off his food today and had 6 feeds. His nappy was overflowing so he obviously got more than enough milk! Breasts are very flexible Smile

As for your baby being ok without you, that depends on the baby of course, but in my experience it is much easier to leave them at 6 months than when separation anxiety kicks in.

Stuff a couple of breast pads in your bra and handbag!

I think once your supply is fully established as yours will be at 6 months, supply won't be an issue. My main concerns would be my boobs leaking everywhere, being sore and engorged etc. But as long as you express regularly you'll be fine. I'm sure baby will be fine too, it's so hard leaving them but I bet you'll have a great time! X

I should’ve also said that although I used the Elvie to express, I got rid of the milk.. feels crazy doing so, but I was just using it for relief, and we didn’t have a fridge in the hotel room to store it, although I’m sure if you wanted to, you could ask for one before you go. Hope this helps.
