9 week old DS starting to feed less at night - my boobs HURT - when does this get better?

My DS is 9 weeks now and has so far fed at night every 2-3 hours, but this week he seems to be going 4 or 5, or when he wakes not taking nearly as much - a few sucks and he drifts back off to sleep (we are co sleeping).

This has meant a few 4 hours stretches of sleep for me which is lovely, but my boobs have really been painful the last couple of nights, I've woken up when he hasn't because of feeling engorged.

Will my supply adjust to produce less at night? If so will I be able to cope with upcoming growth spurts?

Supply has been fine so far, breasts leaking often and have had fast let-down, so generally feed from one side for 6 hours then swap, unless I really need to have a bit of relief on the other side.

Hi, it all sounds ok to me. You breasts will adapt to your baby's needs so the fullness you feel now will go.

I would, however suggest swapping breasts with each feed rather than leaving it for 6 hours. Six hours is a long time not to feed off one side, especially if DS is altering his feed pattern. You may find them more confotable if you do that.

Good luck
