Nightweaning a BF, cosleeping 11m old...2

Any tips for me?

My 11m old ideally likes to sleep with a nip in his mouth.

I want my periods back as we want to TTC #2, and it's becoming increasingly uncomfortable at night. I'd like to night wean him then work on getting him to sleep in his own room. He's on and off the boob all night for comfort, very quick feeds.

Does not take a bottle or dummy!

I'm guessing I just have to start saying no, and offering a cuddle and go through a few horrendous nights that will probably break my heart? But just basically shut the boobs off?

All and any advice welcome!

We used a Tommy tippee clock with an owl on it. When the owl is asleep he can't have milk. It was easier because it wasn't MY fault, it was the owl, what a bastard Wink we started with a few hours in the middle e.g. 11-1 and then expanded the time. This meant the first few nights we did have to sit and cuddle for 30 mins or so while he was upset but he got it and now is very excited when the owl is awake.

I'd get your partner to take over the night comforting. Could you sleep in a different room for a couple of weeks?

It's not generally recommended to night wean bf babies until 18m. If you do I'd recommend "gentle night weaning".

Is the nipple thing new/intermittent?- all 3 of mine did that while teething.

Tbh, I night weaned with controlled crying, but they were only having a couple of night feeds at that point.

I'd prob start with them in their own space and you going in to feed during the night but putting them back in their cot.

Perhaps start with daytime naps in their cot when you have more time and energy to deal with it. When that is sorted you can do night time
