Wooohooooo! I just wanted to let you lovely ladies know that with the exception of a couple of dose of calpol, dentinox and half an envelope, DD has now been exclusively bfed for 6 months. Check me out!
Can I just add that despite the difficulties we have had she is a) not starving b) does not have attachment problems and c) yesterday she rolled over for the first time! (which has come as a huge surprise to my mum who at 11 weeks said she would surely "need something more" )
So to all of those new bfing mothers who think they can't do it, or whose family/friends/hvs tell them they can't do it, it can be done. And believe me, it hasn't been easy, I have sobbed through feeds, sobbed as DH gave bottles of EBM, sobbed as my mum had a go at me for not doing things her way (which would have been formula from birth, baby rice at 3 months and be on chocolate biscuits now!).
I have posted frequently in this topic, and have found the advice invaluable. Thank you all so much for your support. I honestly would not have been able to do it without mnet. I have enjoyed learning about it so much that if my work hours allow it I am going to train to be a peer supported at my local bfing group.
When I was pg I baulked at "extended bfing" (by extended I meant 6 months or more...I know, I know...) but now it has come to it we are still going pretty strong, there are occasional tears, but there's no stopping us yet!
