Alcohol guilt

Home alone tonight looking after our 4 month old DS. One of those nights where everything was going wrong, so I poured myself a gin and tonic and sat down on the sofa with DS for a cuddle. He quickly got agitated and was hungry so I fed him - but I absentmindedly also drank all of my gin and tonic during the first 5 minutes of his approx 25 minute feed. At about that 25 minute point I realised I felt really quite drunk and took him off. It was intended to be a single measure of gin, but I guess could have easily been a double as I poured it quickly and haven't poured myself a gin since before I was pregnant. I ate a couple of hours before.

I feel immensely guilty and am sure will get some telling me I'm an awful and irresponsible mother. I have generally been happy to drink while breastfeeding, but usually it's 1 x small drink two or three nights a week and I wait a couple of hours before feeding.

How bad is it to have had this (possibly double) drink, and immediately fed him? Is it a 'slightly disrupted sleep' situation (so long as I'm more careful in future) or are there serious potential effects I need to watch out for?

There will be no effect.
Even if you drank enough to be so hammered you'd need your stomach pumped, your milk would only be as alcoholic as orange juice.

Lots of factors to consider but don't feel guilty baby will be fine! Some good info here.
