Too many breastfeeds? 7 months

Hi, my LO is 7.5 months and is still BF-ing every 2 hours ish/6 times during the day, as well as 2-4 feeds overnight. She’s offered solids but doesn’t eat a huge amount - she loves finger foods but doesn’t like anything on a spoon!

We tried for months to get her on an eat-play-sleep routine because she was so reliant on feeding to sleep and wouldn’t settle for anyone else, but it never really worked, so we sort of ended up on more like eat-play-eat-sleep, and now I think we’re just in the habit of nursing too often. This last week or so we’ve worked really hard on not feeding to sleep which has involved some tears from everyone but has been successful, so now I really want to work on not feeding quite so often! I’m back to work in a month (Sad) so would love to have more of a routine to leave with my mum/MIL who will be having her so she has a little bit of consistency. We haven’t mastered the 3-2 nap transition yet which isn’t helping I think!

Any help/suggestions/examples of your daily routine with similar aged babies would be great!

Omg are you me 😂 my 7.5 month old fed to sleep too! We are trying to stop! This last week she will sometimes accept my husband rocking her to sleep which is great and I can now pull her off the boob and hold her to sleep!

we tried controlled crying - but I couldn’t do it tbh 🙈🙈 I went in and got her and I won’t be doing it again

It’s so hard isn’t it… I’m back to work in January so have a bit of time

But im finding it so hard to figure out what to do

So I’m following this with interest to see if anyone has helpful solutions

Oh and she wakes every 2 hours at the moment too so I also feel like she’s having a lot of milk

I didnt change anything for my LO going to the childminders at approx 10 months, he just adapted and sleeps fine there with no feeding to sleep. he is fed to sleep at nights and for some naps at home, simply because it works quickly and easily!

My almost 11 month old still feeds about 5 times a day 😓
