How many times do you have to sterilize a pump ?

Hi,

Can anyone advise when expressing should you sterilize the pump everytime ? or not and does it have to confirm straight from the sterilizer like bottles ?

I used to steam mine once a day, and keep it in the fridge between uses. Milk was pumped straight into bottles, and went straight to freezer.

I read a LLL book once which said that you only need to sterilise it the first time you use it.

Thanks! Ive got a 24 hour sterilizer and was wondering if i left it in there until needed would be ok ?

don't know what a 24 hour steriliser is, but yes, should be OK, if it's covered until used.

I do mine once per day usually in the morning. Pump at intervals during the day, once bottle is full, decant milk into freezer storage bag, then wash in dishwasher.
