Respect to Slouchy's mate & Snsbry's thread! what's the best retort to someone who comments negatively on your BF in public?

See other thread...

So lets all get together an arsenal of clever responses when nosey irritating gits comment or tut when we're BF...

I'll kick off with:

"Don't knock it, when your false teeth don't fit anymore and you're on a feeding tube, you'll be wishing for this..."

Ooh, ageist and wicked I know but I wasn't the one who said it was old people (and I am nearly one anyway!)

"If you want a go you'll have to wait..."

(Say in sing-song voice to baby): "Oooh, look! A nosey parker! Aw, isn't s/he funny! Let's all stare back at the nosey wosey parker!!"

Remove baby from breast and offer screaming child to irrating git.

Say calmly in between the cries. She is allergic to formula and won't take a bottle, if you think you can feed her better, do it now !!

Never done it but if I got hassel that is what I would say.

someone once said to me that i should really wait until i had got home. I removed 7 ish week old ds2 and asked if she wanted to tell him that he needs to wait. I think the fact that i was standing i the restauraunt in tesco with a driping boob hanging out scared her more than the words

'Fuck off' v effective
Also 'Snout out' when accompanied by sweet smile.

(Irritatingly had no reason to use either as everyone unfailingly lovely and supportive. Very irritating.)

I like the one from the Libby Purves book: 'screaming or feeding - you choose...'

if they tell me they find it offensive i tell them i find something about themselves offensive and so each to his/her own.

Re: negative comments from friends and relatives, which I think was what the other thread was about, in the early days I just kind of sat there and smiled weakly.

What I wish I'd said:

In response to "he's just using you as a dummy" I wish I'd replied, "but a dummy is a fake nipple; you're saying he's using my real nipple instead of a fake nipple? I don't see the problem!"

In response to "is he feeding again?!" I wish I'd said, "how many brews and snacks have you had today!?"

Although I did have one good retort to "is he still not sleeping through the night?" I said, "he still feeds in the night, but he does it while I sleep, so I'm sleeping through the night at any rate!"
