5 months - introduce formula or start solids?

I have a 5 month old who is EBF. I'm going back to work 4 days a week from home. I'd like to continue breastfeeding but need to introduce an additional food source, as I won't be able to feed her on demand and I'm finding the constant feeding exhausting anyway. I struggle to pump and it takes 30+ minutes to produce a few ounces.

I'm not sure whether to start her on formula, or go straight to 'real' food? She won't take a bottle but I've had a bit of luck with a sippy cup, though she spits out more than she swallows. My mum is watching her full time, and is happy to do whatever I prefer.

Any suggestions?

I'd try and start her on some formula. Food isn't a sufficient replacement at this age as she needs the protein, fat and vitamins.

Both of mine were bottle refusers though, so you do have my sympathy. If you have a look in the MN archive, there'll be loads of old archives on bottle refusal.

Good luck Smile
