Is the tap water in Spain okay to use for making up formula?

I am asking on behalf of a friend. When we go on holiday next year her baby will be about 6 months old. He is formula fed. Will she be able to make up the baby's bottles using the tap water? Does she need to take any precautions. It is not feasable to take enough ready made cartons for the week.

I would definitely boil it first.Can she take a travel kettle?

we went to menorca last year and was told that although the water might taste difference its fine to drink, so can't see it being a problem in spain

We are staying in a villa so will have facilities to boil in there. My suggestions to her was that it would be okay so long as she boiled it first, which is what she does here anyway. Just thought I'd check here too

We went to Greece last year and made DDs formula using cooled boiled tap water in the same way as we do here. TBH I don't really see what choice you have becuase taking that many cartons really isn't an option.

We were advised to use boiled tap water rather than boiling bottled water which can, so we were told, have too many minerals in it. Not sure whether that's true?

Depending on where abouts in spain (my parents live over there) you would be much better off getting bottled water. (its dirt cheap in spain)

Boil it, let it cool and then use that.

The spanish water is ok, but have a VERY high content of calcium (I think from memory) the doctors over there recommend that the english who move over there, don't drink the water as it can lead to kidney stone.

you can use evian, font and vittel bottled water (and a few more) for making up formula.
