DS and I have a great bf relationship, and he loves it. So I feel pretty bad about this, but I would like to stop. I managed to night wean him a few months ago, but he still wakes 3-4 times at night asking for milk, and I'm coming round to the idea that a total stop might be the way forward. Added to that I have to go away for the first time (2 nights at the beginning of Dec, and another 2 in mid January), and we are TTC #2 with no luck so far.

Does anyone have any advice? I already say 'no, milk is just for bedtime' when he asks in the day, and 'no, nightime, sleep' when he asks at night, and he accepts this ie no tantrums, but keeps asking. I'm really worried that with his tenacity cold-turkey will be unworkable as he seems to have the memory of an elephant. Oh, and he's intolerant of cows milk...

Help! Please!

can he have soya milk? a friend of mine cold-turkeyed her daughter at around the same age and had to feed her soya milk.....she took about a week to get into the routine of none at all....but she said it was well worth it for her!! she wore tight fitting poloneck jumpers and tucked them in at the waist till she got the hang of it!!! sounds like your fashion will have to go downhill, but if you want to stop then is it worth it for a while???

good luck!!!

thanks glaskham. Yes, he can have other milks, he just has this huge preference for breastmilk. But a week of high necked jumpers I think I could do I'm thinking of getting DH to do a couple of the bedtime routines to see how it goes without mummy or milk... But the emotional turmoil and the never being able to go back on it no matter how upset he gets, eeugh, I am so scared of going there.

just a bump for any other suggestions - dental abscess and probable antibiotics making the question a bit more pressing!
