If you're on Facebook have a look for mixed up launch day celebrations. The talks look like they could be good.

Not sure if this is in the right place...but...breastfeeding (settling and sleep!) question.

My sister has just had her first baby...a boy. He's about 9 days old now. She is breast feeding him. After the rather rough birth he was pretty sleep and probably recovering. However, he has certainly woken up now and although hasn't lost lots of weight feeds for 2 to 3 hours at a time, almost constantly , as every time she puts him down he screams the place down...especially in the evenings or at night! She is having to use nipple shields as she is so sore too. The midwife has checked the feeding and says as he isn't losing weight (beyond the % they always lose at first) he must be feeding properly and is using it for comfort perhaps, but not to use a dummy for at least 6 weeks. She has a breast pump but has been told not to express into bottles for at least 6 weeks too (I presume bottle feeding may interfere with his breast feeding...especially as he doesn't seem particularly motivated in that respected....he's doesn't seem a good sucker/pumper..and often drops off!)

Also he sleeps ok in his pram or moses basket in the day but won't settle at night and she is sleeping with him in her bed, which makes her anxious as she is worried she will lie on him.

Any suggestions for me to pass on/ experience? I am posting for her as her head space isn't there to get online ....her time is either feeding , changing him or sleeping! It's ages since I had my babies, and I had to bottle feed mine quite early on due to health difficulties.

You'd need to start your own thread. I only posted to let people know about the Facebook talks

And where would I post it please?

What do you mean? On Mumsnet or do you want to post on the Facebook group? You'd need to join the Facebook group to post on that. On Mumsnet you just start your own new thread.
