Perfect prep calc light

Hi, I have been using my perfect prep machine for ten months now, for tha first time the calc light was flashing, I have run the clean a few times with boiling water. My issue is with the calc button on the side to start the descale process, it just does nothing as far as I can tell, should it make a noise or anything to indicate it’s de scaling? I have tried the gold for two seconds, just pressing it, holding for five seconds...nada... any advise if anyone has had this, calc light has been flashing the whole time, thank you. ☺️

Are you filling it up with descaler or vinegar first?

I only had a very small amount left so it was like one part vinegar and 8 parts boiled water... would it know??

No I don't think so. Have you changed the filter during the time you've had it?
Does it run the descaler through when you press the cleaning button?

Yea this is my 3rd filter, changed about a week ago. This calc light came one while I was waiting to get a new filter as the machine indicated the new one was needed. I assumed it was to do with the filter. Calc light was just a solid light then last night stated flashing so I googled it and attempted the descale and clean today, the clean runs just fine, I’ve run that about five times today but descale button literally does nothing as far as I can tell🤔

Has the light not stopped flashing after running the cleaning cycle?

The descale button should run the descaler through the machine. Does it not do that?

Does it not work when you follow these steps?

A red warning light will illuminate when the unit requires descaling soon.If the light flashes, you should descale immediately.

  1. Remove the filter.
  2. Fill the water tank with 0.5 litres of distilled white vinegar (4 or 5%).
  3. Place a jug under the dispenser outlet.
  4. Press the descale button for 2 seconds and the system will run a descale process. During the descale process the red descale light will continue to flash.
  5. At the end of the descale process an alarm will sound and the descale LED will switch off.
  6. The red cleaning mode light will flash.
  7. Fill the tank with 1 litre of freshly boiled water.
  8. Follow the cleaning cycle steps as per stages 5-15 of the set up and cleaning process.
  9. Again, fill the tank with 1 litre of freshly boiled water.

10. Repeat the cleaning cycle steps as per stages 5-15 of the set up and cleaning process.
11. The current filter can be refitted.

Hi, thanks for your responses, no the calc light just continues to flash, when you press and hold de scale button for two seconds it doesn’t make a sound or appear to do anything unfortunately, should it make a vibrating noise or something? I didn’t have a litre of vinegar so just used a mix with boiled water, but when the de scale button didn’t do anything I ran a clean, I’ve ran about five cleans now. Do other perfect pros machines not allow you to make bottles whilst this light is flashing? It’s hasn’t let me since it started flashing last night.

Pressing the button should run the descaler through like the cleaning button does

Hi, did you ever find a fix for this? Mine has just started doing exactly the same thing...

Hello, I know this is old but I fixed the problem I think.
So when I was pressing the calc button, nothing was happening.
That’s because I added 300ml white vinegar. It must be 500ml for the machine to descale.

Hey! I just wanted to say thank you, as I was having the exact same problem with my machine but your advice helped me fix it. 😀Why don’t the makers specify exactly how much vinegar is needed?!
