18 month old difficult to breastfeed

Aargh, my 18 month old is driving me crazy at the moment and would appreciate any advice. She has a bottle sometimes for quite a while as other people take care of her etc, we always do one as part of the bedtime routine.

She still breastfeeds frequently but gets so cross at the breast. She drains it in 2 minutes flat, says ‘all gone,’ then hits my boob and gets pretty frustrated. Sometimes she’ll take a bottle at this point, sometimes not, it’s not that she’s hungry just that apparently my boobs are not doing what she wants!

I don’t mind switching to the bottle completely but she still nags for a breastfeed all the time. Should I cut her off? Is this all part of self weaning? My older daughter got cut off cold turkey after 2 years as she would never take a bottle and showed no signs of stopping, this is new territory for me!

If I were you, I would go cold turkey and put an end to the breastfeeding.

I think its time to stop, as shes now 18 months she isnt getting much from you and clearly getting frustrated and there isnt really a benefit in continuing, she is probably using you for comfort rather than nutrition, I know its hard but I would now stop, perhaps have something ready to distract her when she next asks
