How often does your breastfed 1 year old feed?

Just that, really! I’m curious as what is the “norm” around the 12 months mark. DC1 was obsessed and fed frequently at this age.

DC2 has thrown me as he rarely pulls at my top in the day, apart from immediately post-nap. He feeds usually twice in the night, first thing upon waking, and then up to twice a day during the day on days where we’re both at home (but not always). Doesn’t usually feed at bedtime apart from sometimes on childcare days (3 days per week), as he usually has a small bottle with DH so I can do DC1’s bedtime (suits everyone as DC2 settles better for DH).

I’m wondering whether he might naturally self-wean over the next year, or whether night weaning will mean the end of breastfeeding in our case. Curious to hear the experiences of others!

My LO is almost 13 months and usually has a bedtime feed to sleep, then a few feeds overnight, one on waking and a feed to sleep for afternoon nap which can end up being a couple of feeds all in one!

DD just turned 1, she had one feed in the morning one feed after morning nap and one feed before bedtime. Will replace mid morning feed with a snack in the next month before going back to work

DS will be 1 in Feb. He currently feeds (roughly - still feed on demand but he's pretty regimented now Grin):

7.30am - upon waking
10am - pre nap (v short)
1.30pm - pre nap
3-4pm - sometimes but not always (depends if he eats his snack or not, or if he has a longer nap and wakes up ravenous)
6pm-7.30pm - multiple quick feeds between while doing bath/bed
1-2am - fed back to sleep
4.30-5.30am - fed back to sleep

Absolutely no chance DS is going to self wean any time soon. I'd like to feed him until he's about 2 anyway, but we will see. He's been teething this week and has been on the boob every 30m - he didn't even do that as a newborn.

Thank you so much for your replies - for some reason this didn’t come up in my threads after people responded.

We have had a funny old week as he’s been apart from me for four days really, and only fed first thing and in the night. But today he has been like a newborn and wanted to feed constantly - so I suspect he is not self-weaning just yet.Grin

Quite jealous at the infrequent feeders!
My 14mo feeds on waking (7am), at 9am, before his nap, at 4pm, bed time (7pm) and twice throughout the night. That's 7!
I want him to cut down at least one or two of these but he gets so frustrated if I refuse that I end up giving in.

I fed both of mine to 14 months but stopped feeding on demand around 7 months and only scheduled ones.

At 12 months both were having just two a day; first and last thing.
