When DD was a month old I phoned my HV because I was worried she had a TT. She said consultants weren't doing face to face but I could have a phone call (not helpful!)

So I went private. They said she had a tiny one but it was so small there was really no point.

Fast forward to now. She is 15 weeks. Finally got to see a lactation consultant. She does have a TT and has dropped from 50th to 9th.

Now tying to find someone who will cut it 'my local hospital wont because of age. I'm pumping after every feed to stimulate supply.

Has anyone got any words of encouragement or experience? I'm so upset.

Argh! That's so frustrating! I'm so sorry. I can sympathise": both mine had serious TTs that had be cut, but only after two weeks of the midwives saying "most babies feed fine with a TT" while the babies spluttered through feedings and my boobs became painfully full. Made me feel like a total failure.

Did the lactation consultant have any advice for improving your baby's latch or anything?

I really hope things get better/you get the TT cut

Can you find no one private who will divide it?

OhToBeASeahorse · 29/01/2021 21:45

I've contacted the original people but if I get no answer I'll just have to throw good money after bad. I know i cant keep up this feeding schedule with a 2 year old. This all happened today.

I'm really shocked they won't because of age. I've worked in Harley Street in a maxillofacial surgery where we saw a baby of a few days old. I now work in a dental hospital where we see newborn babies with tongue ties and have done during the pandemic. Do you have a local maxillofacial department near you? Most hospitals have them so I'd contact them because it does need sorted it's a very small procedure and not invasive at all so can't see the problem. hope you get it sorted x

Thank you. Their issue is that she is too old! I'm so frustrated and so daunted by the pumping regime the lactation consultant has put us on. I have a 2 year old as well.
