Hi - have searched threads but not found any specifics on this, so sorry if it has been discussed to death - but I saw mentioned on one of these threads in passing that fussing during feedtimes around my LO's age is common. Is this true? If so - is it something they grow out of themselves? Is there anything I can do?

It has suddenly started taking much longer to feed my LO and his feedings have become more frequent (he was on 3 hourly feeds during the day is now on 2 to 2 1/2 feeds. I know this could be growth spurt related, but has been going on for nearly a week now. Is this all interlinked?

A few of us on the sept postnatal thread have the same issue, so any feedback greatly appreciated from us all.

many thanks

Hi, this is going back a couple of years for me but I do remember that DD's growth spurts lasted around a week at least and there was definately one around 6-7 weeks. I wonder if it could be that your supply has settled and your LO is just ajusting to a slightly different flow etc? Someone more experienced will probably come along but if it helps, it all sounds normal to me, it's really a case of going with the flow for now, if you can (you don't sound too stressed?!)

Nah - not stressed, just curious, none of my books say anything about increased fussiness but it cannot be coincidence that lots of us are going through the same thing at once.

Fio - has yours suddenly started to do it? Mine pulls himself off then yells in outrage a few seconds later until I latch him back on. It is quite amusing at times (but not at 2am!)

Dal, my lo is 9wks now and only yesterday I was wondering if he is finally coming through this fussy phase. Mind you during the night he was just as bad again, but I put that down to tiredness (his and mine). I also find that if he feeds more and my supply increases, my flow rate also increases. Which means he is gulping more air down and he's having to unlatch and pause for breathe. Anyway I'd say he's been fussing for about 10-14 days, and as I say I think we're getting back to normal now.
