In a pickle 😵

I was wondering if anyone could help me as I'm so tired I can't see the wood from the trees and have got myself all worked up!

Dd2 now 8 weeks has been exclusively breastfed since birth. Appears to be putting weight on fine however has always suffered from terrible wind, constantly thrashing around and having restless sleep before waking up crying . This goes on a!! day and night (so her sleep hasn't improved since the day we left hospital!!). Doesn't help that she is a mare to get to sleep in the first place!

I've always felt that she had a shallow latch which was confirmed by a midwife in the early days but said that as weight gain was fine, she was getting what she wanted and all was well. Back of my mind, I'm thinking this is could be the reason for the all the unsettledness?

Fast forward and a cranial osteopath confirmed that Dd2 had a tongue tie which may have been preventing her feeding effectively and getting a deep latch. We went private and had the tongue tie snipped but the latch and wind/restlessness/screaming has not improved since.

With the lack of sleep/doubts she was getting enough milk etc DH and I took the decision to start introducing some formula feeds with the idea to going exclusively ff over a couple of weeks. At the minute we are giving a late feed of formula in the evening and one in the day. However since this she has started to bring up a lot of curdled milk even hours after a feed 😳. She was never a sicky baby before.

So I'm currently stuck between BF and FF and no idea where to go from here. We have a DD1 who is 2.5 so I don't really have the time or mental strength to work on re-latching etc etc. Plus she never wants to be put down and lives her life in a sling so I don't have the time to express.

However I'm now worried that there may an underlying reason that the formula is making her sick? She feeds roughly every three hours so my milk supply will already be dwindling won't it? And she is getting increasingly fussy at the breast.

Uh I just feel stuck and don't know what to do right now and even if any of this makes sense! If you have read this far you are amazing lol. X

Also add she has always has frequent hiccups, sometimes mucous poos, sometimes quite stringy (sorry TMII!).

Shallow latch, windy and good weight gain sounds like either fast flow or over supply. Might be worth checking in with a lactation specialist for support. It depends on the cause as to what might help but laid back feeding, expressing just before a feed etc may be useful.
Also could be allergies especially with her reaction to formula? Could try cutting out dairy and seeing if that improves things.

Stick with BF. It's so much easier than faffing with bottles and sterilisers.

CMPA?

Colic
Nursing strike
Silent reflux
Growth spurt
CMPA

Could be any one of those things.
