Do boobs even up after weaning?

My left produced way more than the right so my son always wanted to be on that side. It got way bigger and I had to stop bf for my own mental health because having visibly uneven boobs was ruining my self esteem. Except they aren’t going back to being the same size and it’s been months. I’ve been crying about it again today. Is surgery my only option?

no they take a while to return to shape but if it worries you you could get a fillet for one side of bra so they look same -
You have done a wonderful thing for your babe & the shape of your body shows this -

I don’t want to have to wear a prosthetic. I want to look normal again. I can’t even bear my own husband to see me undressed.

Mine went back to normal. So they definitely can.

SpikySara · 31/12/2020 23:49

Anna how long did yours taken to even up? It’s 30 weeks for me and they’re still just as lopsided.

I had a noticeable difference for a long time - 4 years later I'd only notice it if I was really looking for it

PurpleFrames · 31/12/2020 23:53

You have a baby.
You have a partner.
You are in physically good health enough to breastfeed.
You have the support of a health care system/HV.

Perhaps try and put in perspective with your incredible blessings in life.

SpikySara · 31/12/2020 23:54

Telling someone to get some perspective about their disfigurement isn’t really helpful, thanks.

Well maybe you shouldn't post on a public forum if you can't accept comments 🤷🏻‍♀️

Disfigurement is such an over dramatic phrase for this and quite offensive to a disabled person.

DeRigueurMortis · 01/01/2021 00:05

Yes they evened up.

Took about 6 months. The change was very gradual so it took a while to notice it was happening so I did worry I'd end up permanently lob sided.

I'd suggest you aren't dismissive of putting a "chicken fillet" in the smaller side while you wait. Made a big difference to me whilst in clothing so I didn't stress about it "publicly".

DH btw didn't give shit (only really worried it upset me but not bothered at all for himself iyswim in finding it unattractive).

It's highly likely to correct itself in time, so try not to stress (as much as possible) and I'd also suggest not "looking/comparing" too frequently because the change is very subtle and you won't notice if you check it daily/weekly and will worry more that nothing is happening.

Thanks

All my dc preferred my rhs boob. It was noticeably smaller throughout and for a couple of years after finishing feeding the last dc but slowly recovered and then looked about the same. Still pretty good all things considered!
I remember how much it got me down and wish I’d known then that time would sort it out.

DeRigueurMortis · 01/01/2021 00:07

Sorry 16 months not 6....

It's not a game of top trumps.

The OP is upset and there's no reason to make her feel worst by being goady.

Thewithesarehere · 01/01/2021 00:10

Mine have! Don’t lose hope OP. It took about three years to get there.

peapotter · 01/01/2021 00:12

Eventually mine were back to normal. Which is one a bit bigger than the other.

I hoped that by feeding more on the smaller side I’d even them out!! But it went back to normal a few months after I stopped feeding. Opposite of you, and I’ll just have to live with it.

MyrtlesMoans · 01/01/2021 00:18

I breastfed for a combined 4 years. My boobs started to get back to normal a year or two later. Make sure you wear a comfortable, well fitting bra.

And, by the way, I have amazing boobs. Even after breastfeeding that long. Neat 34Cs

TwelveDogsOfChristmas · 01/01/2021 00:28

I had one significantly bigger than the other, it took a few years and there's still a difference but it not noticeable now. I only know there's still a difference from a bra fitting last year, I couldn't notice it visually

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2021 00:31

Yes, OP. There's every likelihood that they will go back to normal. Mine did. Give it time Flowers

AnnaSW1 · 01/01/2021 00:35

@SpikySara definitely less than a year. Hang in there!

Abloom1 · 01/01/2021 00:38

Just make sure you wear well-fitted bra.

Whiskas1Kittens · 01/01/2021 00:41

No, but you stop caring! :-)

Fennelandlovage · 01/01/2021 01:14

I would heavily encourage trying to even i I p the feeding demand as def effects the overall balance but will even put slowly. Try feeding more on the lesser side as will improve the balance - good luck xx

SpikySara · 01/01/2021 11:11

Thanks for the support. I stopped feeding 30 weeks ago and they’re still lopsided. I was expecting them to have evened out by now. But it sounds like there’s still a chance they may still even out in the next year or so.
