How to cut down or stop breastfeeding.

DS is now one and feeds when he first wakes up, before morning nap, before lunch nap and before bed. Plus whenever he wakes in the night but I’m really keen to cut this down and stop fairly soon! But I feel fairly clueless on how to start cutting him down and eventually weaning him off. He’s also dairy free and I’m waiting for the go ahead from his consultant that he can now drink oat milk. I know I need to stop feeding him and I sleep and feel I should tackle one nap at a time?

Any ideas or help would be very welcome! Thanks :)

I'd start by weaning him at night. You might feel a bit better about the daytime feeds if you aren't up feeding him half the night and now he's one, he's old enough to go without a feed overnight.

Have a read of this method by Dr Jay Gordon. It's very gentle and is aimed at BFers.

Once you've cracked night weaning I'd pick another feed and swap that one. If it's the first one, you could get DH to take him straight downstairs and give him breakfast instead or if it's the last one you could go out of the house for a few nights whilst DH does the bedtime routine.
