Want to stop breast feeding - Any advice?

DS is 7mths and we are down to 2-3 BF's a day. He is starting to prefer the bottle and just fusses when breast feeding. The best feed of the day is the last one at night so I want to keep that going for a little longer as it is a nice way to end the day. However I am nervous about dropping the other two feeds of the day after just having mastitis twice! I don't want it to come back, horrible experience!
Any advice re-dropping down to one feed and stopping breast feeding completely, I would like to have totally stopped by end of year.

When I weaned DS1, I dropped one feed a week (or maybe a fortnight cos I was reluctant to stop!) - that way I had practically no engorgement or discomfort. HTH. Good luck!

dd is 8 1/2 months- for the last 5/6 weeks the milk produstion seems to have changed- my breasts no longer feel as full as they used to at feed time although dd still has a jolly good feed- I've read the reason for this somewhere- maybe mears or tiktok can elaborate but maybe in a few weeks you'll find this happens to you. Perhaps if you kept feeding for a few more weeks the same thing would happen

Yes that seems to be happening, I am no longer feeling as full as I did but DS seems to have a good feed, when he wants to! I have to say it is nice to have normal(ish!)feeling breasts again. Due to drop another feed from today so will see how it goes. Thanks for advice

after I stopped completely with ds I got steadily more swollen slowly for 2 weeks and then everything subsided; took about 6 weeks from stopping for me to be back to "me" again.

And cabbage leaves didn't help. Especially not on days I had to go to work.

Hiya,

I found I had to drop one feed every 7-14 days.
DS is 5mths.
