Hope this might be helpful to someone out there! Ds (14 months) has just had minor op with ga and we were dreading starving him. Was surprised to find that I was allowed to bf him for a whole five hours after all other food (including cow's milk and formula) had to be stopped. I had considered stopping bf but decided to carry on for the comfort factor in hospital - if I had known about the starving I would never have considered stopping, it made things so much easier. Just thought I would post on the off chance there is someone else in the same situation

That's interesting - I didn't realise you could still bf even when he was nil by mouth for everything else.

Could I ask how soon after you were able to feed him? My daughter needs GA this Friday and in an utter panic about it
