"Painful" letdown still after nearly 4 months. Will this get better?

My DS is 15 weeks old, and my letdown at every feed or when expressing is quite painful- i have to grit my teeth and/or put pressure on non-feeding boob, and i have to wear breast pads or shells to avoid wet tops.

At least i no longer get random letdowns through the day, but i am getting fed up of always needing pads when i go out, and feeling discomfort.

I also feel nauseous just before letdown too. Is this 'normal'?

i totally forgot that! but yes! i had a painful letdown for about 5 mths, it gradually wore off. and sometimes i felt a bit sick too.
i don't think its normal, most women don't seem to get that, but i certainly did.

MaeBee,

Thanks. Glad to know i'm not the only one, and that it might wear off soon hopefully..

could you have thrush?

I don't think it's thrush, as it's definitely related to the letdown, as i feel it 'building up' in the boob and then the milk gushes. I've studied it whilst expressing. It starts to tingle and then hurts when the milk comes. The sicky feely starts just before this.

I would have thought thrush would hurt when latching on and throughout the feed, and a lot more painful i'm sure.
