Sterilising powder dispensers

I presume that I need to sterilise powder dispensers? If so, what do you do with them when they've been sterilised? As they are still wet you can't put the powder straight into them, so do you leave them to air-dry (which takes a while, in which case are they still sterile?) Or do you dry them with clean kitchen towel - in which case surely they're also not sterile?

once sterilised or washed in diswasher, you can pour boiling water over them which drys them a lot quicker

my friend never sterilised hers though!

I didn't sterilise them. The powder itself is not sterile.

I think the point is that milk, once it's made up (and therefore liquid) can harbour bacteria which can flourish. So you sterilise bottles which hold the made-up milk to be sure you have got rid of any last bits of milk.

But they can't flourish in powder, so you're fine.

No need. As M&J says, the powder's not sterile.

But what I mean is that if there are drops of water left in the dispenser, from the sterilising, then surely that can start to activate the powder?

I think you should probably air dry them - so not sterile but clean and dry. That's all you need, I think.

I used to sterilise them and dry them with clean kitchen towel.

I dry with a clean tea towel and then leave to air dry for a while. Never bothered sterilising.

I didnt sterilise, I just washed and left them to air dry upside down on a piece of clean kitchen roll. I also had 2 so that while one was being washed the other was able to be used.

I emailed Tommee Tippee to ask about this and they to sterilise and wipe dry with kitchen towel.
