Breastfeeding and weight loss

Has anyone else found it hard (well, near impossible) to shift the weight gained in pregnancy whilst feeding. I lost some straight away, but after 3 weeks that stopped. I've not been dieting, but I've been moving loads and eating super healthily...before this would have affected my weight positively but now not. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same? My daughter is 6months old. Certainly the old adage that bf will make the weight drop off is not true for me Smile

Yes. I found this too, I didn’t lose any weight at all while bfeeding. Since stopping at the beginning of 2020 I’ve lost a stone!

Do you know i"m finding the exact same thing! I remember reading something about it to do with your body holds onto it to convert to milk. Not sure how true that is but having read lots of women say similar and especially when they stop weight starts coming off I wonder if there's truth to it.

Still feeding my 14 month old and still struggling to shift the baby weight! Some friends lost it really easily and others like me seem to have clung onto the weight

Yes I think this has totally replaced the myth that you get slimmer quicker from bf’ing- very much the opposite

I had the opposite problem - slim while breastfeeding, could eat whatever I wanted. Put on a stone when I stopped.

Breastfeeding made the baby weight disappear fast. I only gained weight once I stopped feeding. I think when it comes to metabolism there is no one size fits all rule.
