My DS starts nursery in 2 weeks. He’s only going 2 days a week, from 8am-4.30/5. Im worried about his milk, I breastfeed him. He’s reluctant to take a bottle.
He has 3 meals a day and does drink water.
I’m also worried about his nap as I tend to take him for a walk twice a day to get him to sleep. He’s not the kind of baby I could put in cot and fall asleep he would just roll around.
Worried Mamma xx

Hi OP, I'm still feeding my almost 3 year old. He started nursery around that age.

I found he just didn't feed until he saw me, then he would have a big feed for 15 minutes Smile

I did try expressing and he was good on a bottle in fairness, but it was a lot of faff and honestly just easier to feed in the morning and when we got home again

@Kate3150 mine did exactly the same - would not feed in the day (and were fine with food / water etc) and would then just feed when they saw me! Big feed in the morning, quite a lot of reverse cycling at night, but not an issue.

None of the 3 of mine ever napped in their coats. They slept on me / in the buggy / in the sling. All 3 of them slept at nursery. Nursery have voodoo magic to make babies sleep. I don’t know how they do it but it’s a fact Grin

It's natural to worry, it's a big step but also an exciting one. At that age and as he is eating 3 meals and drinking water he will probably be happy enough having a feed in the morning and then when you pick him up. If you're happy for him to have cows milk then it's surprising how they're often happy to drink out of 360 cups etc when needed! In terms of napping, nurseries are magic hah. Don't know how they do it, but many non-napping babies seem to settle okay whilst there, even if not the staff are well versed in how to help them drift off.

And mine went full time from that age and it was still fine Flowers

Wow thanks for all your lovely responses. I feel better now.
I wasn’t worried about him going but as the date draws closer I suddenly find myself in a bit of a panick xx

@Kate3150 I panicked about all 3 of mine starting nursery. Even the little one who went to exactly the same nursery as his brothers and had his brothers there at the same time!

My DS will be 10 months when starting nursery - I’m planning to just feed him around nursery.

Don't worry about the sleep. I used to work in a nursery and we were trained a million techniques to get a baby to sleep. The percentage of amazed parents that their child slept well in a cot was high!
