Giving expressed milk today - how much do I need to express and discard?

Hi - I'm having a scan later today and because of contrast dye I'll be giving DD expressed milk for around 24 hours. I know I need to express and discard while she's not feeding direct from me, but I wondered if I need to try and replicate the amount she usually takes, or if I can be a bit more relaxed about it. As she's now 3 months I feel fairly confident that just one day off won't mess up my supply - am I right to feel that? Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't have thought that one day will mess up your supply. I left dd three times for a dya betwwen 2 1/2 months and 4 months, and I expressed twice each time during the day (got a VERY full bottle!!). I actually saved it all it in a chill pack (waste not, want not!!)but I assume you can't do that because of the dye. I carriedd on exc bf until 6 months no problem.

I should make it clear...I got 2 full bottle's worth i.e a bottle for each expressing session. When I started each session I did look like Pandora peaks though....

I too had to express and get rid of milk a few times with DS, I think I expressed around two bottels (again, very full!) I don't think that you really need to replicate her feeding. But I can bet you'll end up with absolutely HUGE knockers at some point and be desperate to express!!!
