I never saw the programme but I find it really strange that anyone should have an objection to someone bf, people are very odd!

kiskidee · 03/10/2007 09:54

probably setting it back by 10 yrs.

some arse on telly spout their ignorance so every other halfwit now thinks it is a valid opinion and go repeating it.

amazonianwoman · 03/10/2007 09:56

Inflicting it on others?????

I find watching someone bfing a newborn much more pleasing on the eye than watching it have a bottle.

Will just make me even more determined to get norks out as & when (which I do anyway lol)

Off to watch programme on On demand now...

th worse one really is the spock one as she is made out to be the normal one
im sure no one with half a brain cll will listen to cv but i think people will listen to the spock woman

and she thinks its inflicting it on others

I'm a new mum to be and i'm not listening to that stupid woman. I think breast is best and if my baby need feeding and i'm out, i wouldn't hesitate(sp?)to whip it out. It's natural.

Loucee · 03/10/2007 10:25

I agree that I think it will put back bf in public - when I had DD I was very unsure about Bfing in public, didn't know where I was allowed to do it etc. Of course I soon became wise, if my baby needed feeding I fed her but if I'd have watched that programme before I would've been even more uncertain.

I found CV very man-handly of that wee one she was giving a bottle to, there's no love or warmth expelled from her

kelmcd · 03/10/2007 11:01

I have bf my LOin public on a number of occasions in different places and as far as i am aware nobody has given in odd looks or made any comments. TBH at a restaurant the other day bfing , group of young guys sat next to us and people were more put off by one of them blowing his snotty nose than me bf

witchandchips · 03/10/2007 11:06

I really disagree that the spock woman is the worse. Yes she is not great on certain things but nothing she advocates is abusive or harmful. Formula feeding DOES NOT EQUAL withdrawal of love.

berrybliss · 03/10/2007 11:13

CV is the awful one, I think what everyone is saying is that this woman shouldn't say that 'women shouldn't breastfeed in public' and that they 'shouldn't inflict it on other people!' all in all i think she's ok really just guiding rather than telling the mothers what to do.

witchandchips · 03/10/2007 11:16

think a large range of breast feeding advice is consistent with the spock method. It is just unfortunate that this mentor has the views she does.

ruty · 03/10/2007 11:17

oh for crying out loud. the researchers on this programme have to be about 18 and male. It is ridiculous.
