Do breasts return to normal after bf?

I’ve recently weaned my baby and one breast is much bigger than the other. I thought they’d return to normal but it’s been six weeks and they’re still lopsided. I’m sobbing my heart out because pregnancy has ruined my body so much and now I have this to deal with as well. Is there any chance they might still return to normal?

I don't know but I heard that they do but it takes much longer than you would think - I think I read about 6 months

My0My · 28/07/2020 18:57

Everyone is different. Sagging can be a problem. In my case just stayed too big! I was desperate to have smaller boobs. Never happened! So don’t expect anything!

Sevo7 · 28/07/2020 19:05

I was only breastfeeding from one side for the last 3 months so one was noticeably bigger when I stopped but within about 3 months they were both the same size again. They have definitely changed after breastfeeding and have gone down a cup size after each child and feel very deflated now Sad However I barely wore a bra the entire 9 months I breastfed my DD so there’s a high chance that had something to do with it!

😂😂😂

Coronacurls · 28/07/2020 19:08

Sorry - not at all in my case - much bigger and roughly round my knees

Mumoflittles · 28/07/2020 19:10

I have breastfed 3 kids and mine are a real mess. They actually really get me down.

NewNewt · 28/07/2020 19:11

No, sorry. Maybe after 1, but after 2 or 3 - no.

DramaAlpaca · 28/07/2020 19:14

I've breastfed three children and mine went back to normal eventually.

Kathyanne41 · 28/07/2020 19:18

I'm currently breastfeeding my 8month old son. I'm having a really hard time weaning him. He eats a couple bites of food with me every once in a while, but mainly prefers to breastfeed. Now he's down to 1 breast and my other breast is noticeably larger than the other. He's been breastfeeding from the weaned breast again now for a few weeks. I've also started back pumping the smaller breast before it gets completely. Is their any chance in re-establishing my milk supply in that breast again? I've been eating garlic and mother's tea. Does anyone have any advice who has re-established milk supply after stopping on one side? I wish I had continued on both sides but now im just trying to get my breasts even again.

cautiouscovidity · 28/07/2020 19:25

No - not in my experience, nor that of my friends. They'll change a bit in the months after you stop BF, but are unlikely to return to pre-pregnancy shape / size.
If it's any consolation, it's pregnancy as much as BF that affects them - my formula feeding friends' boobs have changed after pregnancy too.

Lazypuppy · 31/07/2020 22:24

Nope! Look like deflated balloons!

JSW642 · 31/07/2020 22:28

Mine have gone down 1 or 2 cup sizes. Felt awful BUT then bought a load of new bras in my new smaller size and feel great! Give it a few months to see if there’s any change then get measured and buy a couple of bras and you’ll feel like a new woman.

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 31/07/2020 22:29

I bf many many dc. I am quite proud of my boobs these days!! Youngest is nearly 6 and they aren't bad....

Crazycatlady83 · 31/07/2020 22:32

Mine went down a cup size (D to C) but aren’t too different to what they were.

Shmithecat2 · 31/07/2020 22:38

I breastfed 1dc for nearly 4 years - boobs are now pretty much the same as they were before I had him.

kateybeth79 · 31/07/2020 22:43

I breastfed 2 babies and mine went back to normal fairly quickly.

Mintjulia · 31/07/2020 22:44

I bf one dc for 18 months, and was back to normal, shape and bra size by the time he was weaned.

My body is back to normal too but took longer, maybe three or four years and more effort, lots of swimming, running, cycling.

Northernsoullover · 31/07/2020 22:45

Mine don't look any different to before. The bottom half of me? We won't go there Wink

Merename · 31/07/2020 22:46

@Lazypuppy

Nope! Look like deflated balloons!
Oh God, exact same here after DC2. Fine after DC1. I’m still bf tho so hoping miraculously they will fill up and be less shrivelled and empty when I stop Sad
MissSmiley · 31/07/2020 23:01

I've breast fed five babies (between a year and a few days) and they went back to normal, after the first time one was bigger that baby preferred one side, but they pretty much evened up eventually, there's nothing you can do though I think it's just luck

3GIANTSTRAWBERRIES · 31/07/2020 23:06

I breastfed 2 babies for just over a year each and no obvious change. It does happen...

fantasmasgoria1 · 31/07/2020 23:09

Cautiouscovidity, i formula fed but my breasts went up a size and haven't changed. There is only very minimal sagging at 46.

MrsAvocet · 31/07/2020 23:41

I breastfed 3 children for about a decade in total and it didn't have any negative effects on my breasts. Obviously now I am in my mid 50s they are not as pert as they were in my 20s but I'd say that if anything they are less saggy than many women my age. They got a couple of cup sizes bigger in my first pregnancy and have stayed that way ever since.

badg3r · 31/07/2020 23:49

I have breastfed for around 4.5 years. Boobs are totally screwed now, not much smaller but a lot more saggy! I don't know anyone irl who's boobs have gone back to what they were like before after feeding multiple babies although after one baby it seems most did largely go back after time. As a PP said I think it is just luck. And time.
