Expressing milk

Hello!

I've been trying to find something out but everywhere has different opinions.

I've expressed some milk and it's been in the fridge for a day. I want to go and visit someone and was wonder if it would be possible to bring that refrigerated milk with me.
I'm not sure if it'll be ok for me to take it out the fridge and put it in a bag to feed my baby with later.
Could someone give me a big dos and donts kind of thing for expressed milk, please?

I know you can keep it in room temperature for up to 6 hours, but they recommend 4.
You can store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

I just know nothing about leaving the house with it and it's making me feel like I can't leave.

Thank you Smile

Do you have a cool bag with ice pack? That would help keep it longer
P.s. I'm sure it lasts more than 3 days in the fridge

A cool bag with ice pack would probably be your best option

Are you on Facebook? There's an amazingly helpful group 'Can I breastfeed In It?'. Join that and ask there if you can. Lots of amazing ladies with lots of experience

We did a cool pack with ice for my expressed milk and it worked fine.

I did a breastfeeding course whilst pregnant and the rule they told us was ‘x5’- so 5 hours at room temp, 5 days in the fridge, 5 months in the freezer.

Thank you everyone. I've just joined the group now as well!

Cool bag with ice pack if needed but I never used to bother (except the bottles I took to bed that could be there for 8hrs plus and my son was born in the 2018 heatwave).

If you are out, if not more than 6 hours should be fine out of the fridge. It is 6/6/6 with breastmilk although I believe NHS have recently updated guidance to be slightly longer.
6 hrs at room temp
6 days in fridge
6 months in freezer
