Poos in 5 weeks old DTs - too frequent?

My 5 week old BF DTs seem to have very dirty nappies (both wee and poo) at every nappy change.....roughly every 3 hours or so...meaning that they are having about 6-7 dirty nappies a day.

Now, I don't mind at all, and I know it's a sign that at least they are getting enough milk from me, but I wondered whether my milk is going through them a little too fast?

They are putting on weight nicely - about 6oz a week - and I know that I probably shouldn't worry. They do seem to suffer from very gassy tummies from about 7 - 11pm (or even 2:30am last night!) and I wondered whether it might all be related.

Anyone with any experience of this or advice much appreciated!

That sounds fine, surfnicky - babies do vary in the amount and frequency with which they poo - any variation from about 8 or more times a day to once a week (yes really!) is considered normal! My ds2 (exc. breastfed) is 9 weeks old and poos about once every other day - huge amount as you can imagine!! But doesn't cause him any problems. However at 5 weeks he was pooing at least twice a day, so it does change too.
