11 month old on BM only because of illness - it's killing me!

DD had gastroenteritis - we both did. She's refusing all solids and has since Saturday and instead has been nursing every few hours and my boobs are killing me.

Not to mention the horror that is her nappies - bf poop again but so much it reaches neck and ankle regardless of nappy!

Can someone PLEASE tell me they get over this sort of thing and things go back to normal very soon. My tits feel like they've been attached to the Dyson and are permanently sucked dry. ARRRGGH

Yes if it's just gastro then she should be back to normal within a few days. DD had the same thing at one point (I thought I'd mistakenly eaten dairy to make her ill, but turned out to be a bug).

They get over it and things go back to normal very soon However soon can be a long time with a dyson on full suck...

Oops! Just read post again...since SATURDAY! oohhh...not nice...poor you! I did have an incident earlier this year with dd with sick/diarhoea...lasted about a week too... Sometimes I hear they don't want to eat again because of the feeling of sick coming up (TMI...) At 11 months, could you try her with milk in a bottle or sippy cup? Not quite as comforting I know but may give your boobs a break! Or anything else pureed (sp!)?

Sure someone with better advice will come along soon. Feel for you though...sending sympathy vibes your way!

Thanks Ally and CSWS - the little monkey won't drink anything but water from her sippy. I tried cow milk and she threw it at the cat (who lapped it up ).

Maybe she's coming out of it now, it has been a week (hadn't realised it was so long). It's the nappies which are the worst bit I'm sure. I can deal with the hoover tits issue but its been a while since I saw liquid high speed poo squirt out the top of a vest into her hair

Mind you I have lost another nine pounds over the course of a week because of this

Ooh no - wouldn't advise milk in a cup. Quite common to have a bit of a problem with dairy after a gastric bug.

Bf definitely the best thing for her.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/09/2007 21:32

Ah, cross post sorry. Had phone call whilst typing!

whomovedmychocolate · 28/09/2007 21:39

I know about the dairy avoidance after gastric problems, because I can't have milk in my tea again for a bit

I managed to vomit while feeding her the other day and she didn't even break off to see why mummy was leaning over and making a big noise
