Help! DD was weighed on day 5 and had lost 9.4% of birth weight and it’s day 10 and she’s plateaued. Not gained but not lost any further. She’s doing the right number of nappies, no jaundice and seems content. Am switch feeding, all day and all night, stripping her down to nappy etc. around day 3 she started refusing to latch and we saw a lactation consultant who believes she has a tongue tie so has suggested use of nipple shields which is working well for now and we’ve been referred to a specialist for TT which we’re pursuing privately to get looked at ASAP.
My DS, now 3, was always mixed fed because of jaundice and weight gain issues and I was so determined to have a better experience this time. I feel so disheartened and like such a failure. I can’t do the one thing needed to keep my babies alive. I really wanted to EBF but it’s so hard and I’m lost.
