could all the discomfort my LO is having (see all my threads - summary:wind/crying/not wanting to lie on back for long) be due to C&G?

I tried switching to SMA but he went immediately very constipated

so thought oh well wont do that again

my HV said all formulas are the same

but my gp said I should try Aptamil as gentler on the stomach

is that true?? Or should i try colief!

Really ANY HELP APPRECIATED

AS COMPLETELY LOST!

I must admit my DS's problems with wind cleared up when I switched to Dr Brown's bottles and Aptamil. I'd definitely use both again. My DS will also not stay on his back.

Well I would say Aptamil is worth a try then. It does seem to be easier on the stomach.

All special care units seem to use aptamil....

bumbly, it's not true that all formulas are identical, but they are certainly basically the same. I can't think why Aptamil might be generally gentler on the stomach, as the protein and the fat content is what makes things 'gentle' or otherwise on the digestion, and the protein and fat content of all first infant formulas really is very similar indeed...ditto the lactose.

But individual babies may have individual responses to specific brands.

All I can tell you is my experience and it definitely worked for us.

DS took to projectile vomiting on aptimil. On C&G now and very windy!

We use C*G comfort milk - Ds was a very sicky baby and this had a lot less lactose than other ones - this cured his sickness.

I have studied the C&G and Aptimal ingredients and list of vits, etc and they are line for line exactly the same - leds me to think the formulas are the same - jsut difference in price!
