Ds is five weeks old and suffering from colic. Have heard that Cow and Gate comfort milk will help. Has anyone used this and what was the outcome

Hi

Dont know if this will help or not but I swapped my ds onto cow and gate from sma. He used to end up screaming and going bright red frequently with constipation and what I realised was stomach pain when he was bringing his knees up. He was more settled on cow and gate. I have a couple of friends that did the same. Will use cow and gate when we have another.

I know it wasnt colic but hope this helps.

DD was absolutely fine on SMA but DS has been on it for 4 weeks and got constipated and colicky. Friend from work recommended Cow and Gate Comfort. He had one bottle of it this afternoon and produced a huge burp and a looser nappy. I know it is only one bottle but I'm hoping it is a start.

Our results were fairly instant too, so fingers crossed.

My health visitor recommended omneo comfort when my ds threw a reaction to Aptamil when I stopped bf. They suggest it as it is partially pre-digested somehow .. not quite sure how! He was fine on it ... but be warned it does lead to revolting nappies!

He has been on it for 48 hours now. Nappies are revolting but the wind comes up much easier. Last night he was a bit of a pain to get to sleep but I think he has been a bit spoilt with all the cuddling from the colic and now wants cuddling to sleep all the time. (He also filled his nappy after about twenty minutes trying to get him to sleep so maybe that was keeping him up.) On Saturday he was a dream and I got to watch Independence Day in bed.
Going to get some Dr Browns bottles as well to see if I can get a completley new baby!

glad to hear he is settling .. it is def worth getting some anti-colic bottles, with any luck those combined with the omneo comfort will sort him out.

ive had our lil ava on comfort now for 3 weeks, ava was on SMA to start and had terrible reflux, wind and colic and chronic constipation poor wee soul. now she is still a very windy baby which causes her probs yet but she has earned the nick name of puttt put as releasing wind from both ends is no longer a problem. i will add that her reflux is so much better and no more constipation tho her nappies are now horrendous but she is def a happier baby

I found that Colief drops worked for my ds. 24 hours after starting them and no more crying or pain at all. I withdrew them gradually when he got to about 3 months and he was off them by 4 months.
