Bf counsellors - do they get paid?

Not sure I've spelt 'counsellor' correctly but just wondering if it is voluntary work or paid work? Have wondered about getting involved in it in some way.

hOWEVER, COURSES TO DO THE TRAINING ARE MORE OR LESS PAID FOR... sorry caps lock...I think it is really about £40 course payment and then the yearly membership fee and of course you have to agree to actually do a certain amount of hours of bfc'ing duties

I'm starting a LLL peer support course next thursday, it's 12 weeks of 2 hour sessions it's free and there's a creche but you don't get paid, i think it will be very rewarding though.

You can become a qualified counsellor by going to college and doing a course or you can contact verious groups such as Childline and the Samaritans. These are voluntary groups of fantastic people who will train you. Other groups may offer training too. Good luck!

Breastfeeding counsellors from the voluntary groups do not get paid, sally, but they do get something for doing antenatal classes if they are with NCT.

Peer counselling/peer supporting is a much shorter course, and the work for that is voluntary too.

sure start does appaerntly offer peer supporter training for free....mihgt be worth looking into
Vixma...I had no idea you could actually do a college course to become a BFC...what course is it, which colleges do it?
