Please help - baby refusing milk

My nearly-8mo daughter has had spells since she was born of refusing milk. She was BF until 5 months old when I switched to formula, but since then has had a couple of days each month where she seems hungry but after an ounce or two pushes the bottle away.

Since weaning it has got worse. She usually has porridge with banana puree or toast for breakfast, pureed fruit and veg for lunch, then something like mashed potato with more veg or bolognese for tea. She has pretty big portions and usually finishes her bowl. I offer her water with meals but she flings the bottle around, she will take a couple of sips if I hold it to her lips but doesnt seem that interested.

Shes had very bad reflux since day one, we have tried everything including infant gaviscon but nothing seems to work. She vomits after every bottle, a big gush not just a small amount. This hasn't got better since weaning if anything it's got worse. She can be sick hours after her last feed.

She also gets quite constipated, her poo is the consistency of an adults poo and sometimes she poops less. I find it's usually around then that she doesnt want milk.

Health visitors etc keep saying she will grow out of the reflux but it is depressing me. Every outfit gets soaked, I have to change her (and me) multiple times a day (bibs are useless) and I'm always worried she hasn't kept enough milk down.

However her growth is fine, she was born at 36+6 weeks 6lb5oz and is now 17lb08oz.

She has only drank around 10oz of milk today, I'm worried she's hydrated but as things are dont want to take her to hospital or out of hours unless really necessary.

Sorry for the long post, I dont know what to do! Any advice would be much appreciated.

Has she been tested for dairy allergy?

She probably doesn't need water, as there is a lot in her food.
Is the guidance 20oz a day?
I'd look at her food, see if you can add different kinds of fibre. Swap the banana for apricot or prune maybe.

The other idea would be to split the milk into four servings, give it before her solids so she definitely takes it. That way she'll get the milk's nutrition and water content and just top up on solids.

Might help her keep it down if it's a smaller amount and followed by food.
Would that work?

@bernardswatchplease no she hasn't, she doesnt really have any of the symptoms bar digestive complaints. Do you think it's worth investigating? She used to scream constantly when she was BF but since FF she is very contented and smiley most of the time.

@picklemewalnuts she usually has 5 7oz bottles a day, so today she has had less than half of what she normally does. I think you may be onto something though, filling up on solids might be making her too full for milk/constipated - thanks I will give it a trySmile

Has she been tested for dairy allergy. This was my first thought too. Have a read of this from Allergy UK.

It may be mild but I would definitely get her tested
